Premarital counseling:

building a strong foundation for your marriage

Getting married is an exciting transition, but preparing for marriage involves more than planning a wedding. Premarital counseling provides couples with a meaningful opportunity to strengthen their relationship, talk openly about important topics, and develop tools for navigating marriage together.

At Peaceful Rivers Counseling, premarital counseling is a supportive space to explore your relationship, understand each other more deeply, and prepare for the joys and challenges of married life. Set yourselves up for success by registering for the premarital package of 3 sessions. At the end, you’ll get your result packet and some helpful worksheets to help you practice strategies for communicating well.

I use the SYMBIS (Saving Your Marriage before it starts) assessment as part of premarital counseling. It is a helpful assessment covering topics such as communication and conflict resolution, marital expectations, finances, family dynamics and personality styles.

If you are engaged and prepping for marriage, seriously dating and considering marriage, or recently married, SYMBIS can be a helpful tool in your toolbox.
